What kinds of pictures can I expect?

My style of photography for Agency models is inspired by the old-school, go-see style testing. The images I capture are designed to feel timeless, the light that falls on you should feel expensive, and the pictures carry an 'undone' elegance or masculinity depending on your preference or mood. For this kind of work, I generally don’t work with a crew (but we can). It's really just capturing raw, authentic beauty in a way that feels like well crafted luxury, without being overly polished. To me, these are the kinds of pictures that not only stand the test of time in portfolio, but also resonate with the authentic spirit of the model.

Go-Sees, Testing, NY Digis, and a Portfolio - What does it all mean?

1. Go-Sees:

   • A "go-see" is essentially an audition for models. It's when a model goes to see a client, casting director, photographer, or agency for a potential job or representation.

   • It's a chance for the client or agency to see the model in person, assess their look, personality, and professionalism, and determine if they're a fit for a particular job or campaign.

   • Models typically bring their portfolios to go-sees, and they might wear simple clothing to let their natural beauty shine.

2. Testing (or Test Shoot):

   • A "test" or "test shoot" is a photo shoot arranged primarily for a model to build their portfolio. It's not typically a paid gig for the model, but rather an opportunity to work with a photographer to get high-quality images.

   • It benefits both the model and the photographer. The model gets new photos for their portfolio, and the photographer gets to experiment with new techniques or concepts and add to their own portfolio.

   • Makeup artists and stylists might also be involved in test shoots, often collaborating to build their respective portfolios.

3. NY Digis:

   • "NY Digis" (or simply "digis") are straightforward, unretouched digital snapshots of a model. They're often taken with natural light and minimal makeup to show a model's natural appearance.

   • These photos are essential for agencies, especially in New York, to see the model's current look without the enhancements of professional lighting or retouching.

   • Digis typically include a headshot, profile shot, and full-length body shot. They're often taken against a plain background, with the model wearing simple clothing like a tank top and jeans.

4. Portfolio:

   • A model's portfolio is a curated collection of their best photographs. It showcases the model's range, versatility, and experience.

   • It's a crucial tool for models, as it's what they present to agencies and potential clients to demonstrate their work.

   • A good portfolio will have a variety of shots, including headshots, full-body shots, and various expressions and moods. It might also include commercial shots, editorial images, and other specialized photos depending on the model's experience and the markets they're targeting.

In summary, a "go-see" is like an interview, "testing" is a collaborative effort to produce quality photos, "NY Digis" show a model's natural and current appearance, and a "portfolio" is the model's professional visual resume.
